What I Threw Out Today

Squaring the Circle, Circling the Square

Actually NONE of to-day's items are going to be 'thrown out'. But they are being packed in an envelope, and filed with other ephemera to do with live performances I have given.
There were one or two items from this project in a posting a few days ago. It took place in The Square, Tallaght. It was my response to the strong feelings of confusion, and even of panic which I frequently experienced when I couldn't find my way out of some store in this big shopping mall.

Sign on window. What I did was to leave the unit where the exhibition was being held, and to walk systematically around the three floors of the building, inside and outside, photographing as far as I could see at each stop.
In the course of researching for the project, I found this item on Wikipedia which made huge sense to me and my hitherto chaotic mental state.

Joey made this simple sketch to explain to me where the exits are, and how they relate to each other on the outside.

Enlargement of Square documentation - it shows a map of the location, but no detail of where you will end up if you take a certain exit!

The pile of photos I took which were later displayed on the window of the unit. Some of these images were taken by fellow artist Greg

I suppose ideally, I could do another selection of items, to make up for not throwing these ones out. But Recovery says "Lower your standards and increase your performance" so I am going to "be average" and let them go as they are!
