Most of today's items are from the one occasion, the Christmas break Tony and I took in Clane - was it 2008 or 2009 - a sure sign of the aging process when the years start to blur. Actually thinking back now, it was probably 2008 as i'm fairly sure we were in Tramore last year.
BACKGROUND
The background to the image is an open map which shows where Clane is in relation to dublin, and also shows where the hotel is in Clane. A folded copy of the map can be seen at the lower edge of the image. It shows the entrance hall of the Westgrove Hotel which looked even more sumptious when decorated for the Christmas season.
SPA BROCHURE
Lots on offer, including this procedure where stones are placed around the relaxing client. Prices varied from 50 euros for half an hour to 150 Euros for 2 hours - I wasn't tempted.
THE ROOM
Bed was exactly as seen in the top left of image - including gold bedspread. Very comfortable, and away from any noise near the top of the building.
WHAT ELSE WE COULD DO
leaflets showed us other ways of 'enjoying ourselves' 9at additional cost of course) late breakfast, handmade chocolates, milk and rosepetal bath - poured by spa angel ... I hate baths! and of course we could also have had champagne.
We also read about the gym, and about booking for a celebration meal - an OAK-ASSION in the OAK BAR - (Kildare, the county where Clane is situated, translates to the Church of the OAK.)
RESTAURANT
Eating was a pleasure in the panelled dining-room - barely visable below the chef's head. We didn't see him at all.
LETTER
This is from the restaurant manager making us welcome and telling us to use a voucher for one of our dinners - it was a deal we were on - several nights and a meal for a bargain rate.
MENU
This red document shows the choices available to us - I don't have a serviette to say what we chose - perhaps it will emerge from the box at a later stage.
