What I Threw Out Today

I began September 21 2010 - To record of some ephemera I had collected before disposing of them

REALLY SUNDAY

If you want to know what kind of form I am in these days as I make these all important blog entries that are doing what they were originally designed to do, that is to reduce the frantic hold which the Child part of me has on the past, especially on the past expressed in the 'souvenirs' shown in the photos on the blog - if you want to know what my menatl state is like, look at the titles, and how I am mixing up which day of the week it is.
Anyway, I can 'endorse myself for effort, if not for success', and keep going as by degrees, the masses of stuff are being nibbled away at.
ITEMS FOR SUNDAY October 17 2010

WRAPPING PAPER
Wine colour tissue paper with flowers pasted on it. Someone gave me a gift wrapped in this. I can neither remember the person, nor what they gave me, but if they see this they should know that I really appreciated the trouble they went to to make this lovely paper.
SERVIETTE
This has nothing written on it, so I don't know where I got it, or what we ate at that place. However, undoubtedly I enjoyed whatever it was as I don't tend to collect souvenirs of unhappy events.
LEAFLET
This leaflet is about ice-cream. I am wondering if I tasted this when I went to Harry Potter with my grand-son - I think, I remember the imagery had me stuck to the seat, almost frozen in terror, so since then I have watched subsequent episodes on DVD on a smaller screen.
TICKETS
Tickets for Harry Potter - we went to the 4:30 show on the 17th July 2007
PENS X 3
The three pens are from my time in NCAD. On the pen with the rainbow band, if you look carefully, you can see the point of a green star. This was a mark I used on many of my belongings to show who they belonged to.
SUGAR
Not sure where this came from. I know Illy supplied food in many of the exhibitions I have attended. But, I haven't taken tea or coffee since 1996, and therefore wouldn't have taken sugar either. Maybe someone who was with me took it.
STICK
The stick is highly likely to be from the Ice-cream which I may or may not have eated at the Harry Potter film.
NOTE 1
Probably about the trip I took to Barcelona where I took over Joey's G4 Mac-book, and started on the journey to become a Mac-head as well as a PC-head.
NOTE 2
This is the script of a short video I made with David Weekes about me talking to myself about my art-work. I think I was in second year, so it could be 2007
SOAP
I'm fairly sure the soap that came in this little silk bag is still in my wardrobe among my clothes to perfume them. I can be a bit paranoid about perfumes activating my sneezing allergies.
LEAFLET
I probably got this leaflet at Tallaght Hospital. For a few years now, there has been a consistent campaign to encourage staff, patients, and visitors to be aware of hand hygiene. The accompanying card refers to MRSA, the dangerous condition in which the bacteria have become resistant to anti-biotics.
QUEUE TICKETS
The two blue que-tickets are almost certainly from the phlebotomy department where there is a numbered waiting scheme. If your number is a long way ahead, you can go and have colleff in the canteen - that is if you happen to take coffee or tea.
CLOAKROOM TICKET
Ticket 456 - it's anyone's guess what this is from - could be an actual cloakroom ticket which I got when I left my coat and bag with them for safety; or it could have been used as a raffle ticket at some event I attended; or it could even have been used as a queue ticket in a place where they didn't have the sophisticate ticket machine like they did in the phlebotomy department.
INFORMATION PAGES
The two information pages, one lists, one images tell about the Dyson vacuum-cleaner I subsequently bought.
ID CARDS X 2
One is my student ID 2006/2007. I didn't get much use for it, especially when I went to NCAD and the card from there served the same purpose.
The second card is my membership of International Transactional Analysis Association. You can read about that organization here
INDEX PAGE
I know from the print on this page that it dates from before February 1994 as that is when I got my first new computer - Compaq Contura Aero and a Sharp printer. The objects listed haven't come to light yet - or else have become buried again in the flood of material that is emerging from the boxes.
NOTE 3
Tiny note says Eliz email on Gerry Ryan Show, 32.54 2 mins. Obviously I emailed Gerry ryan about something - but I have no idea about what, nor what I might have said. Even with souvenirs, there has to be a wisp of memory remaining.

EMPTY BOX 2
This is the second box I have emptied. Curiously, I have managed to fit the contents of the two boxes into a much smaller box - Hopefully that will be the case with other boxes as well.
Also in the image is the head of the light-weight tripod I use when taking the pictures. I got this tripod in Barcelona. It isn't very steady and wouldn't hold a heavy camera, but it saves me most of the time from the dreaded camera-shake which I also head off by using the 'sports' setting on the camera.
