What I Threw Out Today

I began September 21 2010 - To record of some ephemera I had collected before disposing of them

I hate this!

This packet of 'bumph' came to me unsolicited, presumably because I made a donation to the HOSPICE when Colin died.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Hospice, and I will occasionally send them a donation when I have some spare cash.
But it goes to my heart to think that some of the mite I donated went to produce this kind of bumph -
This is a list of what they sent:
  • Large envelope
  • Small envelope
  • cardboard collection box
  • Magazine
  • Poster
  • And no doubt there was a postage or delivery charge.
My angry response was to contact them and ask for my name to be removed from their mailing list.
Now I feel guilty and hard-hearted, but I also feel angry that they think that this sort of stuff would manipulate me into contributing, or contributing more. Bah!

PS. These items will go to the ephemeral collection of the National Library. I wonder what researchers in a hundred years will think of us having come to this.
