OFF THE FLOOR ...

The items in this posting were literally taken off the floor (an overflow from the table where I have roughly sorted the contents of one of the red boxes in which I had accumulated material over about the past six or so months.
First there is some of the preliminary research I did regarding the external insulation. (Don't forget you can click on the image to be able to read the printed items.

Research and the eventual contract we made for the installation of TRIPLE GLAZING to the two windows on the gable end of the house. This side of the house takes the brunt of the prevailing south-west wind, in the form of a wind-tunnel because of the closeness of the house next door. The previous double-glazing units developed serious leaks so that when the rain was on that side of the house, water would stream down the long wall of the staircase. I'm glad that problem is now solved.

This image shows more preparatory documentation for the external insulation, including the letter I wrote to the Credit Union, appealing their decision not to give us all we asked for. We had hoped they would be willing to spread the repayments over a ten-year period, but it transpired this was not possible.
Of course this incident brings the topic of my age into sharp focus - in ten years I will be 85. I have good health, and assume that I will still be around then - but who knows - life is very unpredictable. I read one time about a person whose autopsy showed they had six or seven terminal conditions in various systems in their body. However, they died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. You just 'know not the day nor the hour'.
Various questionnaires show some aspect of the anxiety levels I was experiencing regarding who to select to install the external insulation.
I was also anxious about the quality of the materials to be used, and regarded NSAI as my most reliable source of information. I didn't know where else to turn.

A selection of diagrams made by my brother-in-law, when we were thinking about how we might add a second bathroom/shower downstairs.
This idea has been put on the 'very long finger' - and therefore is now at the very back of my mind.
This image has nothing whatever to do with research, or with anything else in this posting.
In fact, these are items that have strayed from the ongoing Ephemera Collection of junk mail which I deliver to the National Library once or twice a year.
Finally, every so often, a newspaper finds it way into what I used to call The Family Archive, but is now just The Archive. I have no idea why this edition of The Irish Catholic was significant. And in my efforts to speed up the process of recording What I Threw Out Today, I am going to discipline myself and NOT search page by page to see if I can jog my memory.
