What I Threw Out Today

Nothing to do with New York, New York

No connection to the NY,NY song, only that I am putting in two images of the labels off the bulbs for no other reason than that I think they are bright and cheerful.
Actually, I just realize that all except the anemones have appeared by now, and also, just noticed the yellow tulips which I have no recollection of buying, but have appeared in various places.

Third image show labels of items most of which either didn't ever appear, or by now have disappeared.
apart from the little partly torn label in the centre showing the partial name '...hus thyrsifolia repens'. I had to look this up on Google to see what it was. It is CEANOTHUS - and what a success this has been. A gift from one of our daughters to my husband, I have trained one specimen into a small tree, and the other is  like a low blue shelf welcoming people to our front door.

Final image has hardly anything to do with the garden. Items listed clockwise are

  • Empty box that used to contain personalized stationery with the Cleary family crest.
  • Poppy seeds from my sister's garden - must get around to planting them
  • Tiny morsel of ash-plant (I think) reminds me of the ash I planted in the grass verge alongside the public footpath outside our house. This tree now stands around more than two metres high, and seems very healthy. This year my sister gave me an oak tree to plant alongside it. I am hoping to prove/disprove the old rhyme:
  • If the oak before the ash, then we only get a splash
  • But if the ash before the oak, then we surely get a soak
  • The oak was first this year, but the weather has been pretty awful so far, until this last few days which have been lovely and sunny.
  • Rush Job Calendar has extra days in the week and extra days in the month. It's worth clicking on the image to read the notes.
  • Three other versions of 'personalized stationery' - probably dating pre-Feb 1994 which is when I got my first ink-jet printer, and let go the star LC10 on which I had been relying since I became computer literate in 1989.
  • One of the versions has a footer saying "Ph. 511125 anytime for immediate collection of all totally useless items" I'm not sure who the prophetic author of this material was, but I suspect it was our youngest.
  • Handwritten note shows two contacts The second I recognize as a founder member of TAI with whom we are no longer in touch. The Walleroo Playschool person may also be TAI as the notes are written on a 2000 application form for TAI. Such a long time ago. So much 'water under the bridge'
