CAN'T BELIEVE IT ....

Ochón, Ochón, [Alas, Alas] tá brón mór [a big sorrow] orm [is on me]!

I can't believe it - it took me ages to upload all the images I took yesterday, and there I was adding notes, not realizing they were all going to disappear.

Well, actually, not quite all as you can see seven of them in the previous post.


No, its not the end of the world, the sky won't actually fall, I'm just venting my exasperation before I settle down to doing them again. Not clear what happened - could be they got selected accidentally, and deleted and I didn't see it until I published the post, which of course meant I couldn't go back and undo.

Or could be I reached some sort of posting limit - though according to Blogger this doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyway, its lunch time, so I will leave some images to upload while I eat

CLOTHES

• Orange party dress with stiff underskirts. I am wondering about this dress. I have no memory of either of my daughters wearing it. Maybe someone gave it to us in a 'poor bag'. People often gave me bags of things they no longer wanted to use, for me to 'give to someone who might need them'. There was an unspoken message that of course, I could re-use them myself if I wanted to do so - and I often did so.

Items of Fur and fur-fabric

• pieces of fox, mink, ?white rabbit, also unknown piece of brown fur.  KEPT for art-work

Not sure what form the art work will take, but when I found this bag of scraps, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of sorrow for these little animals who gave their lives in the cause of 'fashion'.

• Dress, veil, gloves, knitted cape KEPT
• Veil and wreath, selection of crochetted flowers, also loose pearls and diamante, KEPT
•   6 x pearlized buttons KEPT
• Veil with silk rose head-dress (possibly my sister-in-law) KEPT
• Collection of broken rosaries -plastic and cord,  mostly with no crucifix KEPT

  

•  Another of those green curtains with white fringe
• Blue small curtain, could be large grease stain
• 2 x blue pillow covers (was this from when we had that sofa-bed in the kitchen)
• Orange, black yellow curtain - think this covered the press with the boxes of clothes.
• Cushion, several cushion covers (3 x round, 2 x rectangular.
• 2 sets of place mats

• Tea-cosy cover designed by Elizabeth around 1956, embroidered by Aileen Lane McGuire  KEPT

There was also a table-cloth to go with the tea-cosy. My mother used to invite friends of mine to tea on Wednesdays after I had entered the convent in August 1957. She would use this table-linen, and serve them high tea.
