What I Threw Out Today

Keep and Throw Out at the same time

This image, taken on a chilly evening in early March, in my kitchen, shows the big loppers I used to chop up the branches I had pruned from the budlea trees earlier in the day. These branches were too tough for the shredder, so I was planning to lop them into sticks to give my son as kindling for his fire.

But the lopping was so successful that I decided to try the shredder again - and it worked. So I got additional compost.

I must add that the compost isn't totally sucessful - a bit dry - due no doubt to too much 'brown' and not enough 'green' material.
Hopefully given time, they will eventually break down. Meantime they are neatly stored in three crates, liberally sprinkled with water and compost accelerator, awaiting time and hopefully some warmer weather.
