This project is/was designed to use the device of an 'art project' to persuade myself to tackle the aftermath of unprocessed (not put away) materials, emanating not just from my recent years in college, but also from the exhibitions using objects and ephemera from my attic, euphemistically called 'the family archive'
I could not have done this project had I not had the support of various members of my family who encouraged me verbally and assisted me physically with the multitude of tasks that needed to be done.
So how did the front-room go from this jumble of boxes
to this view where I can at least see the floor!
What did it take for the work-room to change from somewhere with nowhere to put stuff (or anyhow, places that meant stuff got lost in the confusion,
to the new-look workroom with its shelves and boxes, and potential for a 'technical assemblage' which I will write about when it happens.
Similarly, how did the kitchen get from this confusion
to this space where we can actually cross the floor unimpeded.
Well, that's how it looks today - I've given our home 'the gift of a make-over' as the ad said all those months ago on March 17, St Patrick's Day 2011.
The project is now ended, but with discipline and determination, I can work on keeping the aftereffects in place (along with the numerous other items which I didn't 'throw out today'.
Tonight (December 29 2011) between 1900 and 2100 GMT, I will be part of the 'Sister Projects' live webcast at
http://www.livestream.com/sisterprojects?t=62341
Feel free to pop in and see what its like.
