What I Threw Out Today

BACK to BUSINESS

Before talking about what happened next, I need to hark back to ST PATRICK'S DAY. I was sitting watching the parade in Dublin on TV. The theme was BRILLIANT - based on a story written for the spectacle by Roddy Doyle.  (See here for details, including a link to a .pdf of the story.)

As I sat there, my mind was running on several tracks at the same time:
  • I was acutely aware of the relevance of the story BRILLIANT, not just to the parade, and to Ireland, but to myself personally, in terms of dealing with a certain atmosphere of gloom, despite the lovely weather we were enjoying.
  • I was feeling a sense of frustration at not being able to get back to this BLOG, and impatient to resume the feel-good factor of throwing something out each day.
  • Suddenly I realized there was a third factor - not only did I have to do something about the contents of the boxes, but I was also going to have to do something to restore our home to a place for living, and not just for art-storage.
As I was pondering all this, an ad came on the screen. I can't even say what the product was, but the message struck a chord deep within me when they said "Why not give your home the gift of a MAKEOVER"  It was like a light switching on - I could use my ART to deal with the dreaded domesticity. No wonder I was suddenly more than ready to finish what I was doing, and to get down to dealing with real life.
